Google Plus would be shutting down due to the mishap of personal data exposure of up to 5 lakhs of users. Earlier in March when the company gained information that data of so many users have been exposed, it did not spread this news as it wanted to avoid the chaos in the public domain. Google even went ahead to say that there was no evidence those outside platforms knew anything about the security flaw. Some resources also revealed that this problem was fixed when an update came from Google’s side. Later, it was proved to be wrong. The third party got the access due to the problem in Google’s own security system. Following all this, now Google has decided to completely shut its personal social media platform for users.
There was a huge hue and cry when Facebook showed signals of a data breach. The whole world was pointing fingers at Mark Zuckerberg regarding the access of data by the third party. Each and everything suddenly took a turn and directed its attention towards Google when leaks were discovered from Google’s own social media platform called Google Plus. It was not only an account holder whose personal information was at stake, but the third party was also able to extract data from their friends as well. This was a major issue of concern.

Initially, Google pacified its users and somehow convinced them to continue using Google Plus. What disturbed the whole scenario and made users raise eyebrows was when Wall Street Journal Published an article which exposed the fact that it is very easy for a third party developer to analyze and even extract user’s personal data from Google Plus. Following this, the users broke their silence and now the CEO of the company, Sundar Pichai has taken a decision to close the platform entirely.
