Nokia as a brand has been a constant throughout the mobile phone evolution. Despite its minor hiccups, it is known for its top of the class keypad phones and especially its sturdy structure. There are enough pop-culture references of Nokia phones literally “breaking” the internet. Recently, the brand launched its revamped version of the Nokia 5310 with the new and stylish Nokia XpressMusic.
Even though FM Radio in a smartphone is no big thing but when it comes to keypad phones it matters a lot. Especially in a country with remote villages and relatively weak internet connections, radio is the only means for hungry cricket fans to get their daily dose. Thus the 5310 comes with a wireless FM Radio and also features an MP3 player to play your favourite beats.
Nokia’s colours have always been a big selling point. Fans still remember the stylish Nokia Supernova and the new 5310 doesn’t disappoint. It comes in two beautiful colour options- White and Red or Black and Red. In both these variants, the red colour is in the bezel and gives a stylish edgy look to the phone. The phone weighs at 88.2 g and is thus not too bulky to hold. Its size is 123.7 x 52.4 x 13.1 mm which is sufficient for a keypad phone.
The phone is powered by MediaTek MT6260A SoC, or the Series 30+ software as Nokia has named it. Although the processor looks promising for a phone like the 5310 it will be determined after a few more user-reviews come in.
The 5310 Xpress Music has an 8 MB RAM and has an internal storage of 16MB which is expandable up to 32GB with the help of a Micro SD Card.
Like all budget phones, the new Nokia 5310 is equipped with both dual SIM and single SIM units.

One of the biggest advantages of Nokia is its affordability as compared to other brands. In India, practically everyone owning a keypad phone owns a Nokia. Expected price for the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music is Rs 3,190. It is a bit expensive when compared to Nokia’s other phones, but if you are a music lover, this one is definitely for you.
The phone promises a 1200mAh removable battery that gives the user a talk time of up to 7.5 hours on both the single SIM and dual SIM units also offer up to 30 days of standby time. Thus Nokia 5310 does not disappoint on the battery life.
As it is an exclusive phone for “music lovers” the audio has been revamped with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and FM radio receiver. The new 5310 comes with dual front-facing speakers which promises to engage and excite the music lover within.
The phone can be connected with external speakers via Bluetooth 3.0 and supports GSM 900/1800. Thus connectivity is not at all an issue when coupled with dual SIMs.
All in all, the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music is an extraordinary phone with a slightly high price. But if you love to listen to music while you work or on your commute, it will be a nice fit for you.
