RailWire Broadband is a retail broadband service provided by RailTel. It is a collaborative Public Private Local Entrepreneur (PPLE) model. It uses the available environment and partners with RailTel, Aggregation Network Provider (AGNP), Managed Service Provider (MSP), and Access Network Provider, to deliver broadband services to their users. This makes their services fast and cost-efficient. The PPLE model uses RailTel’s Core fibre Backbone Network, an Access network that is available with the local entrepreneurs, FTTH (Fibre to The Home) providers, etc.
This model has been in the market for the last few years and boasts 3.25 lakh, home-based broadband users. They also have more than 5200 access network partners locally.
About RailTel
RailTel was founded on the 26th of September 2000. Their main goal was to modernize the then-existing telecom system for train operation, safety, and control.
The company wanted to generate extra revenue by making a PAN national broadband network. To realize this, they laid the optic fibre right along the railway tracks. At present, it runs along a route of 59,458 kilometres and covers more than 5990 railway stations across the country.

Installation Charges of Railwire Broadband
RailWire provides the fibre at the customer’s home and the charges depend upon the area of the customer’s house. The cost of fibre connection provided by the company is based on the unit that needs to be fixed at the user’s house.
The cost of the unit varies from Rs 2500- Rs 4000. The unit that is going to be fitted is also dependent on the area. There are two types of Units: ONU and ONT. If the user already has a router at home, then ONU will be used otherwise ONT will be used.
The cost of ONT varies from Rs 4000- Rs 4500. There is also an additional security amount of Rs 1000 that is charged along with the ONU/ONT unit. The security money is refundable and will be refunded when you stop using RailWire. These are the only installation charges charged by the company.
