There is been a lot of talks about self-driving cars and along with it, the concerns for safety of people is also on the rise. Recently, Ford is in the news as it is developing its own auto-driving cars. That is good news but there are other platforms as well with the same strategy. Ford has written a memorandum in which the company has proposed that there should be a common language for all company’s which are developing these auto-driving cars. The signals of these vehicles should be easy enough so that it can be understood by pedestrians and people who are on the street.

Talks with International Organization with Standardization are already happening and this memorandum has added to the functionality. Society of Automotive Engineers is also on the process to create a common standardization. Human Factor specialist for Ford’s self-driving program has opined that the universal common language is critical to gain for signaling the cars and people using the same road. This is because critical factors like when the car is going to start, when it is going to turn, when it is intending to stopping etc. should be in a way that each and every human can easily understand it without any geographical boundations and limitations at all.
