The “Vande Bharat Express,” known as “Train 18,” is an impressive tribute to India’s advances in contemporary railway technology. The Vande Bharat Express, introduced by Indian Railways, is a big step forward in terms of high-speed rail travel inside the country. Its introduction heralded a departure from conventional locomotives, adopting cutting-edge design and engineering that combined speed, efficiency, and passenger comfort never before seen. Its maiden route was between the holy city of Varanasi and the Capital City of New Delhi.
Since its inception, talks have been in progress to roll out a much better version of the Vande Bharat 2.0, and in this article, we will shed some light on the innovations that constitute the making of the Vande Bharat 2.0.

It is common knowledge that any new technology, when launched, will need to be upgraded as the technology moves forward to serve its purpose. In this case, Vande Bharat is no different. With the advent of Vande Bharat’s Version 2.0, we can see many new iterative upgrades that have been seen since its launch on 1st October. 2022 are:
The Railway Kavach System is an autonomous train protection system that detects and stops potential collisions on railway lines using RFID tags. It works so that the Radio frequency identification (RFID) tags are inserted in locomotives and railway lines every 1 kilometer in the Kavach System. These tags provide for the rapid identification of any potential accident by delivering an alarm if a trained pilot disregards a Signal Passed at Danger (SPAD).The Railway Kavach System can take control of the locomotive and apply brakes to avoid a collision.

Automatic Train Protection (ATP) systems, such as the Kavach System, are essential because they can help to avoid railway accidents. Signal jumping is the most common cause of railway accidents. A railway collision can result in fatalities and injuries. Kavach Technology can save lives and infrastructure by detecting potential railway crashes. This technology monitors locomotive movement and instantly alerts if a prospective collision is detected. Furthermore, the Kavach Railways System is extremely useful in low-visibility weather conditions.
Note: The Kavach’s Trial Run has already been done on 4th March 2022 in the Secunderabad railway division successfully |
